Teaches students about the content and structure of post-secondary programs including graduation and or transfer requirement for a particular program of study. Supports and encourages confidence in academic decision making by promoting student independence in academic processes and regulations. Consult with students to audit progress through programs. Disseminates certificate, diploma and university transfer program information to all learners and other appropriate internal and external contacts. This information may be presented in individual or group sessions. Assist students in the development of an educational plan including choosing a program of study and or clarifying educational goals. To guide students through this decision making process. Provides students with information about alternatives , limitations and possible consequences of academic decisions( change of program, major and /or transfer institutions) Recommends students for acceptance into Open studies. Provide guidelines for registration filling forms to study abroad. Refer students to other departments, agencies institutions and services Refer students to available on and off campus resources to meet individual needs Make appropriate referrals to students perceived at risk. Research and Develop resources to assist students in understanding academic regulation, policies, procedures and program. Research and provide input into the development of policies, processes and programs. Manages sensitive situations and resolve complains at an early stage to minimize conflict and prevent escalation. Maintains administrative documents and confidential student records for integrity, accuracy, consistency, decision making and future references. Represents the academic advising department on various internal and external committees. Develop strong relationships with program chairpersons to promote communication and resource sharing in order to benefit student success.
