Requirements for the post of teacher:

To get a post of teacher in a school you need to have Bachelors in Education (B.Ed.) degree. Many of the colleges across the country offer this course. Further you can pursue Masters in Education (M.Ed.) to enhance your qualification.

Basic Training Certificate (BTC), Diploma in Education (D.Ed.) and Teacher Training Certificate (TTC) are other courses that can prove to be helpful. To become a sports coach/instructor will require having a certificate/degree/diploma from a certified sports institution. In order to teach in a CBSE or a government school, one needs to appear for Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET). This score is even accepted at few of the private schools.

To get a job as a Professor in any college/university, you will need to major as M.A in any subject. Further you can specialize by doing M.Phil. Or Ph.D. in your interested subject. For other branches like engineering, you need to have Bachelors of Engineering degree for your stream. Further you can do Masters in a specific subject to get specialization for the same.

Job Prospectus:

Future prospects for teachers are quite good and flexible. Usually they have a fixed time for the schools. Timing is almost 7.30 AM to 3 PM in all schools. The timing at the universities/colleges varies little bit and extends up to 5 PM or 6 PM according to the institution. Usually the opportunities for teaching jobs in most of the private schools and colleges are good with many incentives.

Usually the best opportunities lie in the government jobs at various government aided institutes and schools. As one gets more experience in this field it can grab better opportunities.

Pay scale:

The best pay is available in the government institutes falling somewhere between 20K-30K per month. If you have experience, depending upon the years the salary can extend up to 50K per month. In private institutes, the salary is usually around 15-20K per month in the start. It also depends on the reputation and popularity of the institute. Though the popular institutes offer a fat pay cheque, they have huge expectations from the candidate. Also one might have to pass through various entrance examinations before securing for the post.
