Linux/Unix System Administration (8-15 yrs)

The ideal candidate will have significant exposure in the following fields: • 8+ years’ experience in Linux/Unix System Administration (Gentoo, Debian/Ubuntu, RHEL/CentOS) • Minimum of 6+ years of experience in UNIX, and system software installation, customization, and support. • Experience with Linux mail servers running Postfix, qmail, Zimbra, Sendmail / Exim, vpopmail, Apache, nginx, SquirrelMail, Roundcube, Varnish. (for SSL certificate management). • Solid understanding of Network Protocols (such as ARP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, and NTP) to be able to troubleshoot most problems without engaging a SME • At least 3 or 4 years of experience in email support & deliverability • Familiarity with RBL systems and whitelists. • Advanced technical knowledge of email authentication and filtering technologies. • Monitoring system such as Zabbix, Nagios, and Splunk. Additional considerations, include: • Good experience with Linux, Linux/Unix Messaging Infrastructure Support / design (Postfix, sendmail etc...) • Support experience with multiple operating systems (Linux, OSX, Windows). · Ability to Plan, design, and recommend technologies, and platforms. • Strong emphasis on Linux / Unix server optimizations, and tweaking. · Support tools and utilities using scripting or other programming languages to automate processes and maintain the application environments. · Ability to make sound decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions. · Focus on escalated cases, improving procedures and departmental expertise to resolve cases more efficiently, and reducing the percentage of escalations while keeping the leadership updated. • Experience operating and maintaining internal systems (trouble tickets, help desk, release management, etc.) · Ability to communicate technical information effectively, both orally and in writing. · Experience working in 24/7 operational environments with rotating On-Call responsibilities. · High degree of independence and exceptional work ethic. · Team player attitude, with a solution oriented mind. · Ability to write clear and concise documentation. · Positive, can-do attitude is a must.
